Reciprocal Bearing: The Dual-Use BlueTech Continuum
June 7–10, 2027 | Maine Maritime Academy | Bath , Maine
The Steel & Salt Summit opens the evening of June 7 and launches core programming on United Nations World Oceans Day (June 8) as the premier dual-use track of Maine Blue Economy Week.
Moving deep-tech hardware from the lab bench into punishing ocean environments requires navigating a steep commercialization "Valley of Death." Steel & Salt bridges that gap. Grounded in Maine’s shipbuilding heritage and extreme North Atlantic testing waters, the summit convenes defense leadership, venture and blended capital, and regulatory pioneers alongside frontier hardware builders.
From activating strategic transatlantic partnerships across the High North and NATO to strengthening regional workforce pipelines and operational proving grounds, the summit connects high-consequence innovation with real-world deployment. Programming concludes on June 10 with coastal facility tours, industrial site visits, and in-water demonstrations of next-generation marine craft and decarbonized propulsion systems.
